"CARRYING THE MESSAGE" THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL AA.s
‘Our Twelfth Step—carrying the message—is the basic service that AAs Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence’
THE LANGUAGE OF THE HEART (Page 160)
Carrying the Message and Helping Others is the responsibility of every Alcoholics Anonymous member, it is essential to the program and is, in fact, the basis on which the program of Alcoholics Anonymous was built.
Alcoholics Anonymous members Carry the Message through their actions, their attitudes, and their words. Carrying the Message is a broad term that takes various forms in the A.A. program, ranging anywhere from sharing at a meeting to a traditional 12th step visit. Where as the traditional ''12th-Step Call" is what many think of when they think of Carrying the Message, a newcomer who may think that they are far from being a 12th-stepper, may share something at a meeting that may help another alcoholic, maybe even the old-timer.
